How I Became a Breeder of Alaskan Klee Kai’s

Hello and welcome to Nordic Mini Huskys

I hope this day finds you well. So you are looking to adopt an Alaskan Klee Kai(Miniature Husky) puppy from a reputable breeder. Well you have come to the right breeder. I am a member in good standing of the Alaskan Klee Kai Association, American Rare Breeds Association plus United Kennel Club a breed registry of excellent reputation founded in 1898.

Alaskan Klee Kai Breeder

I have been a breeder of the Alaskan Klee Kai (Miniature Husky) for over 10 years now. If you had asked me prior to this if I wanted to be a dog breeder I would have said not really. I have been breeding and still do breed Arabian Show horses for 30 year now so thought that was were my passion lay. However all it took was one look at an Alaskan Klee Kai(Miniature Husky) and I was hooked.

Let me tell you how I discovered the fascinating Alaskan Klee Kai breed. I was at my lunch break at work. I went to the United Kennel Club website as I know they are a reputable registry of rare breeds of dogs. I clicked the Alaskan Klee Kai link where a picture of a grey and white Alaskan Klee Kai popped up. It was love at first sight.

I proceeded over the next month to read all I could about the breed characteristics, temperament, health and personality. I could not help but think how like the Arabian Horse they were. Beautiful, loyal, feisty, full of energy, not big barkers and most important intelligent. They think about what you say to them, agreeing to follow your lead because you are their partner in life not because they have to.

I then reached out to a couple reputable breeders I found listed on the Alaskan Klee Kai Association of American website. I asked a ton of questions on how the breeder kept their adult dogs and how the puppies were raised.

Due to Klee Kai tendency to be aloof with strangers I wanted to make sure my puppy was well socialized before I took them home.I wanted to make sure my puppy was raised in a home, amongst the family, played with and loved. I had heard a lot of breeders cage their puppies in small puppy pens for the first 8 weeks and the adults live their whole life in outdoor kennels. I did not want this for my puppy. I found a breeder, put down a deposit and waited.

One year later then my dream comes true! I bring home the most precious little black and white girl Alaskan Klee Kai (Miniature Husky) puppy. Oh joy! I name her Kaleah. At first she is very shy of me and all strangers. With work and lots of treats before I know it she is Ms. Social butterfly. Kaleah’s favorite thing is to play, play, play. So by 8 months old I have to get her a friend to keep her busy. I wanted a girl but the breeder talked me into the most wonderful boy named Jordan.

Jordan has the goofiest, loving, outgoing and friendly personality I have ever encountered in an Alaskan Klee Kai(Miniature Husky). I am so grateful I took the breeders advice in adopting him. His nick name is Brad Pitt due to how gorgeous he is especially with his striking blue eyes.

Fast forward 6 months you find Kaleah, Jordan and myself in the show ring strutting our stuff. I loved when we got the blue ribbons for first place, I mean who wouldn’t. Even if we did not take first showing was fun, we meet a lot of people plus to see all those beautiful Alaskan Klee Kai in one place was heaven.
This is where my passion to become one of the top breeders of Alaskan Klee Kai(Miniature Husky) was born. I have not looked back since.

The joy of watching my puppies grow up to become trusted, well loved companions to so many makes my heart full. I have met so many wonderful people who have become fast life long friends with whom stories of what unique amazing companions we have are shared.

So though I never thought in a million years I would become a breeder of Alaskan Klee Kai(Miniature Huskies) it is by far the best thing that has ever happened to me.
